Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, a 19-year-old woman from Jimboomba, Queensland, has died in Princess Alexandra hospital on Thursday morning, six days after being critically injured in a drive-by shooting. She was shot in the head and neck during the incident, which occurred around 8:18 PM on Saturday outside Fitzy’s Loganholme. Masked gunmen in a Mitsubishi opened fire on a crowd gathered in the passenger drop-off zone, injuring Schuster-Togiatau and three men aged 27, 37, and 38. While two of the men have been released from the hospital and one is recovering from surgery, Schuster-Togiatau succumbed to her injuries. Detective Inspector Ian Galpin announced her death, visibly emotional, stating that her life was 'taken from her in the most cowardly way.' The matter is now a homicide investigation, with approximately 80 police officers actively involved in a manhunt for the three men and any accomplices. Police are appealing to the public for information, emphasizing that they 'will not stop' until the perpetrators are identified and taken into custody, and are exploring potential links to gang involvement or organized crime. Logan City Mayor Jon Raven expressed his deep sadness, and a GoFundMe page established for Vana-Reese and her family has raised over $53,000.
