Miley Cyrus celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Disney Channel show 'Hannah Montana' with a special now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Donning her iconic blond hair and bangs, Cyrus, now 33, reflected on the show from a new perspective, viewing it as a celebration rather than the chaotic schedule she experienced as a child star. The special, filmed in front of a live audience, features archival footage and an interview with Cyrus conducted by podcast host Alex Cooper. It includes musical performances, starting with the theme 'The Best of Both Worlds' and concluding with a new song dedicated to her younger self. Family and friends made appearances, including father Billy Ray Cyrus, with whom Miley attempted to recreate their series handshake, and Selena Gomez, who played a rival. Singer-songwriter Chappell Roan also spoke about Cyrus's influence. Cyrus emphasized the show's lasting impact, stating, 'Tonight isn’t about looking back into the past, but it’s about what it means to us still tonight.' Fellow cast members Jason Earles (Jackson) and Cody Linley (Jake Ryan) also shared their reflections, with Earles noting dated references in episodes and Linley discussing the challenges of portraying a teen heartthrob. Country singer Lainey Wilson also recalled her early career as a 'Hannah Montana' impersonator.
