Three Saudi citizens were killed and several others wounded in attacks targeting Riyadh airport, with Yemen's Houthis claiming responsibility. The Thursday attack was the deadliest in Saudi Arabia since the kingdom and allied forces launched a major military offensive against the Iran-backed Houthis last weekend, significantly escalating the conflict. The first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second struck aircraft, damaging a Saudia Group plane on the ground without passengers. One of the deceased was identified as Capt Hamoud Ali Alkalthami. Injuries to citizens and other nationalities ranged from minor to serious, though operational activities at the airport returned to normal hours after the incident. The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis reported destroying three rocket launch platforms used by the rebels. The Houthis state they are targeting Saudi Arabia over its support for government forces in Yemen's civil war, while Saudi Arabia backs an offensive by Yemen’s UN-recognized government to reclaim territory. The Houthis have recently made significant advances, threatening the city of Taiz. Riyadh is scheduled to host the WPC Energy Congress this week.
