A former University of South Florida student has been charged with the murder of his roommate and the roommate's girlfriend, two doctoral students from Bangladesh who disappeared earlier this month. The accused, Abugharbieh, was arrested after barricading himself in his family home following a domestic violence report.
Abugharbieh, a former University of South Florida student, has been charged with killing his roommate, Limon, and Limon's girlfriend, Bristy. Both victims were 27-year-old doctoral students from Bangladesh who vanished on April 16. Limon was last seen at their shared off-campus apartment, while Bristy, a chemical engineering Ph.D. candidate, was last seen on campus. Abugharbieh was initially arrested on preliminary charges including unlawfully moving a dead body, failure to report a death, tampering with evidence, false imprisonment, and battery. His apprehension involved a SWAT team after he barricaded himself in his family's home following a domestic violence call. An autopsy is being conducted on Limon's remains, and the search for Bristy is ongoing. Abugharbieh has a history of previous arrests for battery, burglary, and domestic violence petitions.
