A major snowstorm is currently impacting the Midwest and Great Lakes, causing significant travel disruptions for Thanksgiving travelers. Winter storm warnings stretch from Montana to Ohio, with heavy snow leading to airport delays and slow road conditions. Another storm is expected to hit the Northeast next week.

A significant winter storm is bringing challenging conditions to the Midwest and Great Lakes regions, affecting many Thanksgiving travelers. Winter storm warnings and advisories are in place from Montana all the way to Ohio. Forecasters are warning of potential airport delays and slowed traffic, with snow falling at rates exceeding an inch per hour in some locations. Northern Iowa has already seen over 8 inches of snow, and similar accumulations are anticipated for Chicago and parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan. St. Louis airport experienced delays of approximately an hour on Saturday morning, though Chicago's airports reported no major disruptions during one of the busiest post-Thanksgiving travel days. Roads across Iowa are snow-covered, leading to slow-moving traffic. While conditions are severe, meteorologists confirm they do not yet meet blizzard warning criteria. The same weather system is also forecast to bring thunderstorms and a chance of heavy rain to areas from southern Missouri down to Louisiana and Texas on Saturday. Looking ahead, another winter storm is becoming more probable for Monday and Tuesday, potentially bringing freezing rain and ice to the Appalachians and moderate to heavy snow to the interior Northeast.
