CoolKicks Inc. and owner Adeel Shams are suing Complex and Nice Kicks for defamation, trade libel, and false light, alleging that both companies published false claims about CoolKicks selling counterfeit shoes and Shams being arrested, causing significant business and reputational damage.

CoolKicks Inc. and its owner, Adeel Shams, have launched a legal battle against Complex and Nice Kicks, suing them for defamation, trade libel, and false light. The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, states that Complex published an article last year titled 'Cool Kicks Raided and Accused of Selling Counterfeit Shoes,' which CoolKicks claims falsely implicated the company in a counterfeit sneaker scandal. CoolKicks and Shams assert that law enforcement never accused them or their products of being counterfeit. Additionally, CoolKicks alleges that Nice Kicks shared a social media video that similarly and falsely claimed Shams was arrested and that the company made fake sneakers. The plaintiffs contend that these false allegations have caused irreparable damage to their reputation and have had a devastating impact on their business. CoolKicks and Adeel claim Complex has refused to issue a retraction, making it too late to undo the harm. Complex has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
