British two-time former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was hospitalized in Nigeria after a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killed two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. His promoter, Matchroom Boxing, confirmed Joshua sustained injuries and is in stable condition, undergoing observation. Photos from the scene showed Joshua being extricated from a wrecked Lexus SUV. Nigerian government and police officials confirmed the accident, stating preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was speeding, lost control while overtaking, and crashed into a stationary truck. Joshua, who was in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu called Joshua in the hospital to convey condolences and wish him a speedy recovery. Fellow boxer Jake Paul also expressed his prayers for those affected. Joshua's parents are from Nigeria, and he had recently fought Jake Paul in Miami. He is currently receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.
