Thomas Steele, 47, was arrested in Mobile, Alabama, for allegedly decapitating his grandmother and aunt with a chainsaw. His aunt had reported him acting bizarrely and being off his Lithium medication hours before the gruesome discovery.
Thomas Steele, 47, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder after his 85-year-old grandmother, Dora Boone, and 65-year-old aunt, Christy Deloach, were found headless inside their Mobile, Alabama home. The discovery came hours after his aunt called 911 to report Steele was off his Lithium medication, doing "bizarre things," and believing he was "following God," though she initially stated he was calm and not violent. Police were called to the home roughly two and a half hours later, finding the women dead and Steele allegedly waiting outside. Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood confirmed Steele lived at the residence with the victims. During a bond hearing, Steele, who flashed a toothy grin in his mugshot, snapped "No. Kill him!" when a public defender was assigned. His public defender, Glenn Davidson, stated Steele was likely in a state of psychosis and plans to seek a mental competency evaluation, indicating a 'not guilty by reason of insanity' plea could be considered.
